Middle School Piano
Plan to demonstrate your ability in ALL of the following areas:
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency in major and minor scales and arpeggios up to 2 accidentals. (one octave, hands together, ascending and descending, the mode of the minor scale will be the student’s choice).
- Perform a solo piece of your choice, only two minutes will be heard in the assessment. Email a copy of the sheet music to [email protected] at least 48 hours in advance for the assessor to read. Music does not have to be memorized. Make it your best piece, and something you love to play.
- If you are playing a piece that you have learned from a midi file/online piano tutorial, or a piece that you have composed or improvised, let me know at the time of the assessment.
- Demonstrate your ability in sight-reading. This will be something you will be shown during the assessment.
- Do NOT send a letter of recommendation. This is a demonstrable skills assessment during which you present what you know.
- Be prepared to answer the questions in the attached rubric during the assessment.
