CAB CALLOWAY SCHOOL of the ARTS

Dear Cab Calloway School of the Arts Parents and Students,

The Red Clay Consolidated School District recognizes that electronic devices, like cell phones, offer security and peace of mind for families. However, during the school day, these devices can disrupt learning and pose safety risks during emergencies by spreading misinformation or hindering administrative procedures.

Middle School students are required to keep cell phones off and stored away throughout the instructional day. High School students may use their cell phones when permitted by their teacher for instructional purposes.  Unauthorized use is prohibited and violations will result in consequences as outlined in our Student and Family Handbook (pg 51-53).

We ask for your parental support in reinforcing the cell phone policy by not calling or texting your student during instructional time.  You can also support by using parental control apps like Apple ScreenTime, Google Family Link, Qustodio, Net Nanny, and Bark to manage or monitor their child’s device usage. Together, we can create a focused and enriching educational experience for our students.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a focused and safe learning environment.

Sincerely,

Dean Anthony Gray-Bolden
