2017-18 School Year info!

Welcome back folks!

Dear Cab Calloway Families:

Welcome to the 2017-2018 academic year! We are excited to welcome 938 students to our Cab Calloway family this year! We extend a very special and warm welcome to our new students and families who are joining the Cab Calloway community for the first time this year! We look forward to getting to know all of you. We encourage you to find a way to be involved in our school community. We firmly believe that the success of our students has everything to do with your involvement as a parent, grandparent or caregiver.

We would like to welcome several new staff members this year:

  • Shanelle Mainor
  • Laura Schwartz
  • Sydnee Prosser
  • Patti Root
  • Debbie Supplee
  • Sara Wilson

We are also excited to welcome officially Mr. Andrew Enahoro to 6th grade mathematics, Mrs. Susan Ames to 7th grade mathematics, and Mr. Brian Garber as our full time school psychologist.

We’ve had a very busy summer preparing the building for your arrival. You will notice a brand new cafeteria design! It is beautiful! Several of our Career and Technical Education classrooms (Georgsson, Greider, and Mayo) have renovated spaces, including a new audio-video recording studio! Our entire building has been cleaned and polished thanks to our phenomenal custodial crew – we are just waiting for your arrival!

We’ve had six very successful weeks of SmartSummer camp, and several of our teachers attended trainings over the summer in preparation for the upcoming school year. Five teachers attended Advanced Placement training, and four staff members attended the Professional Learning Community training this summer. Our goal is to provide our students with quality learning opportunities in all of our classes, both arts and academics!

We hope that our students have prepared over the summer, completing the summer work that was posted to our school website for our high school and our middle school classes. If you’ve not done so, please check that website (here) and get that done promptly! We hope you have taken time this summer to rejuvenate, spent some quality moments with those you love, and found at least one outstanding book to read over the summer.

Our new student orientation will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:00 PM in our theatre. It will be followed by our annual ice cream social sponsored by our PTSO for all families in our lobby and front patio area at 7:00 PM. We invite you to celebrate with us at the social on August 23rd! We cannot wait to see you!

School begins for 6th and 9th graders on Monday, August 28th! Freshmen will have their school photos taken on the first day of school! All students return on Tuesday, August 29th. We look forward to sharing the 2017- 2018 school year with you! Enjoy your last days of summer vacation!

Ms. Julie Rumschlag, Dean.

Dr. Joe Hocking, Assistant Dean.

Dr. Will Robinson, Assistant Dean.
