Once on This Island is a musical set during a hurricane, when a group of children decide to tell a story to comfort one another during the storm. The story is about a young woman who tries to follow her heart and four magical gods who make her journey difficult. This is a modern retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” and explores Haitian culture and spirituality through beautiful Caribbean-style music.

Brandywine Photo Collective

The opening reception is January 4 from 5:00pm-7:00pm

The exhibition runs January 4-February 17.  The opening reception is January 4 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

This group exhibition came about as the artists of the Brandywine Photo Collective organized this art-making challenge for each member to interpret their won image, shot either on film or digitally, as well as three other raw images by their fellow members.  They were tasked with personalizing unfamiliar subjects and compositions.  As they altered their raw imagery, using computer software and/or physical manipulation, they began to consider what makes their final photographs as expression of their own ability and aesthetic.  This challenge became as exploration of what made each final artwork unique.
